"Fill the Boot" Fundraiser Helps Local Families Fight Muscular Dystrophy

Marin firefighters will take to four intersections in Marin, April 22, 2012, in an effort to raise funds to help local families affected by debilitating muscle diseases.  The "Fill the Boot" fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association raises more than $30,000 each year in Marin, when firefighters ask motorist to drop spare change in empty fire boots.  2012 will find find firefighters at East Blithedale in Mill Valley, 3rd and Grand in San Rafael, The Hub in San Anselmo, and Rowland at Vintage Oaks in Novato.

2011 Relay For Life

This year, Local 1775 members will relay for firefighters and their loved ones lost to cancer.  Our team will rally in support of one of our very own, a Firefighter from Marin County Fire Department and Local 1775 Executive Board Member who was diagnosed with occupational caused brain cancer in February 2011.  While his treatment is in progress and prognosis looks hopeful, we want to make sure that this year all of our brothers and sisters (each and every off-duty Marin firefighter!) comes out to join the Relay.
