Marin Firefighters Endorse Candidates in Local Races

Marin Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 1775, proudly endorses the following candidates in the upcoming general election: 

  • Marin County Supervisor District 4: Steve Kinsey
  • Marin County Supervisor District 2: David Weinsoff
  • Marin Superior Court: James Chou

Endorsements are made only following exhaustive candidate interviews, and are based on a candidate's commitment and positions on local public safety and labor issues.

2011 Relay For Life

This year, Local 1775 members will relay for firefighters and their loved ones lost to cancer.  Our team will rally in support of one of our very own, a Firefighter from Marin County Fire Department and Local 1775 Executive Board Member who was diagnosed with occupational caused brain cancer in February 2011.  While his treatment is in progress and prognosis looks hopeful, we want to make sure that this year all of our brothers and sisters (each and every off-duty Marin firefighter!) comes out to join the Relay.

Local 522 Member Helps Repair Haitian Boy's Heart

Sacramento Metro fire captain and Local 522 member Barbie Law knows how to mend a broken heart. In the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti, Law volunteered as a medical relief worker with the non-profit humanitarian agency, Relief International. It was here that she first met seven-year-old Lovensky Alexandre.

Injured Firefighter 'Knew In My Gut' It Was Bad

Ventura County firefighter and Local 1364 member Paul Torres lost his right eye after being hit with flying shrapnel while fighting a fire in Thousand Oaks earlier this month. He expects to return to work once he gets the OK from his doctors.
